Festivities in tech town Tacoma recognizes e-commerce leaders
The News Tribune; Tacoma, Wash.; Aug 25, 2000; Marcelene Edwards;

Abstract:
"For us this is the first step in checking out the market," said Tony Hildesheim, vice president of business development for Fuze. Company representatives are looking for an office in Tacoma or Puyallup that should open in the coming months.

More than two dozen companies participated in an open house designed to give a glimpse of what types of technology companies have moved to Tacoma. Atomic Tangerine, one of the newest additions to the city's tech scene, celebrated its grand opening Thursday by dumping 1,000 orange stress balls from its second-floor office onto Broadway.

It's not something the city could have done a year ago, said Rob Greenlee, marketing director of ShopperBox Networks. But in the last 12 months, many companies have shunned Seattle to open in Tacoma, helping to increase the number of tech businesses to about 100.
